No coins. No card. Just tell it what you did.
PRESS FOR REASSURANCE
Too late. You are already reading Broken Zine.
The vending machine stood at the end of the hospital corridor between Radiology and a locked door.
It had no prices.

INSERT APOLOGY.
A man whispered, “I should have called my brother back.”
The machine hummed and dropped a packet of peanut crackers.
A nurse said, “I pretended not to see her message.”
Granola bar.
I stepped closer.
“I knew the plant was dying and kept moving it to darker rooms.”
The machine considered this.
Then dropped two bags of chips.
Fair.

VIC SLOANE
Vic Sloane keeps the odd files, damaged evidence, and stories that should probably have remained in the drawer.
