About
Broken Zine is an offbeat literary publication for work with nerve, wit, invention, uncomfortable honesty, and a voice that sounds like itself.
We publish poetry, fiction, flash, essays, memoir, art, comics, photography, satire, fragments, found things, experiments, and material that refuses to fit the usual drop-down menu.
The frame can be broken. The writing isn’t.
The homepage can look photocopied, taped together, stained, redacted, and slightly unruly. The actual work gets a serious reading environment.
Broken Zine is also a laboratory: new publishing tools, layouts, issue formats, and contributor experiments can happen here before they move to more formal publications.
House voices and contributors
Broken Zine uses recurring house voices for some columns, games, and experiments. Those names are editorial characters rather than contributor biographies. Human contributors are credited as themselves, and fictional pieces are labeled when the distinction matters.
HOUSE RULES
No prestige theater.
No institutional voice if a human voice will do.
No requirement that the work be “edgy.” It just has to be alive.
