Obituary: The Good Tupperware Lid

It fit perfectly, clicked once, and vanished sometime between leftovers and the dishwasher.

PRESS FOR REASSURANCE

Too late. You are already reading Broken Zine.

The good lid is dead.

Not technically. Technically it is missing.

But after six months, the distinction feels sentimental.

It was the clear lid with the blue rim. The one that fit the container without negotiation. The one that clicked at all four corners and never leaked soup into a tote bag.

Its survivors include eleven containers with no compatible lids and seven lids that fit nothing currently recognized by science.

A memorial service will be held in the lower kitchen cabinet, behind the colander.

In lieu of flowers, please stop buying new food-storage sets. You know how this ends.
