Instructions for Carrying Groceries Upstairs
A practical poem about groceries, stairs, pride, and the logistical design flaw known as adulthood.
WHY IS THIS IN THE FILE?
Nobody took responsibility quickly enough.
take both bags
because two trips
is an admission
hook the milk
into one finger
let the cans
bruise your leg
at the second landing
pretend you are stopping
to admire the paint
at the third
accept the plastic handles
cutting little treaties
into your palms
when you reach the door
you will need the keys
they are in the pocket
under everything
this is how adulthood works:
you finally arrive
and cannot put anything down
